I need some help converting the GPS (XML) files into GDB or GPX files. I can change the XML file to a GPX file by renaming the extension and open the GPX in Google earth and I can see the route and waypoints. But, when I try to convert both the XML and the renamed GPX file with GPSBabel to a GDB file and it won't open in my Garmin software. Has anyone converted them with success?

I can't speak for everyone on this forum but the MoJazz staff are Magellan kinds of folks. Usually a little fiddling with GPSbabel solves every problem that we have but you have to know something about the file formats your device is looking for. I'd suggest any of the numerous Garmin forums on the web.
cheers

I'm using a Windows 7 PC, and when I use the 'Save Target As..." on the GPS file, for example the Jenkins Hollow to Pocatello (135 miles) GPS, it gets saved as a XML file is this correct file extension? I can later edit the extension to GPX which works great in Google Earth.
Dose the Magellan create the XML or GPX file or is that done through Nat. Geogrphic Topo? I do have the Nat. Geogrphic Topo for Wa and Ore.S

National Geo TOPO exports in .gpx, which is an XML based format. It works seamlessly with my Triton, and worked fairly well with my Explorist.

My ADV, I just sent you .mps files for both T1 and T2. I tested the patch of files, .gdb and .mps, I sent you today and they all open with Garmin just fine. Enjoy.

Hello to all This looks like a great forum for info exchange. Hats off to the creaters. Dan - any chance you could send me the gdb file format for T1 & T2. That would be awesome. Did the OBDR with the Garmin 478 and having a track is the way to go. Thanks in advance. I PM'd you. Bob

I'm not sure how to post a file here, so here is a link to Garmin GPS files of the T1 and T2, the files have been converted to tracks. I have not yet to date trimmed the tracks to 500 points or less yet. When I get that done I'll email them to Martin to see if he wants to add them to his website. You can download them here: http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=13302787&postcount=33http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=13302794&postcount=34T1 in Aug for me and 2 others in my group, looks to be a fantastic route, thanks in advance!!!!!

Notar, I had no problem loading your tracks but in the first section the challenge waypoints of Crystal Spring, Harkness, and Haystack were missed. Your track goes to the east of them. The rest of the track was quite usefull as I can't get the GPSBabelfish to work on my computer. I am manually entering all the challenge waypoints and it is a good review of the maps.

We'll be changing the challenge points just a little bit over the winter to reflect the 100+ mines of new single and double track trail that will be on the 2012 tour. Probably the first two days will remain unchanged. cheers m
