Why did Honda wait so long to put a slipper clutch in the CBR1000RR. Why isn't the HESD standard equipment on all sport bikes?
Thanks

My Darling Martin,
These are just the questions The Hottie likes to get!
To answer your first question, they waited so long because Honda thought all their riders were purist, clutch-feathering magnificently experienced riders. Turns out they are lazy, gear-grinding meat heads like the rest of us. My only surprise is that the combined genius that is the Honda Engineering Team, failed to figure that out literally later than everyone else.
Second question, from what I understand, the HESD wasn't as wildly received as anticipated; I know dudes who say it gave them greater confidence through the butt clenchers, and others who who are ripping them off their 'Blades quicker than you can say "tank slapper". Plus, they are a spendy little piece of insurance, so if Honda wants to market their bikes to entirely different tax bracket, they might want to leave the HESD off.
But what do I know? I'm just a chick with a bike! Remember, Ducati Hottie sez: Italians do it better!!!
Faster and faster until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.
